The author wrote the novel in Urdu, which was published in 2004 by Feroz Sons Publishers. Later, in 2011, the novel was published in English as well. Umera Ahmed also wrote the sequel to Peer Kamil novel under the name Aab e Hayat.

Main Characters of Peer e Kamil Novel

There are two main characters in this novel: Umama Hashim and Salar Sikandar. Umama Hashim is a medical student who belongs to an influential Qadiani family in Islamabad. Salar Sikandar, the opposing character to Umama Hashim, is a student with an IQ of above 150.

Main Theme of the Novel

The novel centers on the life-transformation journeys of Umama Hashim and Salar Sikandar. The novelist portrayed both characters as being from the upper-class segment of society. So, she also describes the approach and connections of the upper class living in Pakistan. The theme of the novel is that practicing Islam is the right approach for anyone.

Summary of the Novel

Umama Hashim, who belongs to the Qadiani religion, converts to Islam after an invitation from her friend. She keeps this secret and flees from her home. During her runaway, she seeks the help of Salar Sikandar. Salar Sikandar is a curious mind with a high IQ who goes to the USA on scholarship. After getting back to Pakistan, he also gets inspiration from a religious teacher named Furqan. Here Salar Sikandar’s life transformation also starts.
