Karakoram Ka Taj Mahal is an adventurous novel by Nimra Ahmed which was initially published in the monthly Shuah Digest. The idea of the novel was inspired by the rescue operation conducted in 2005 to save Slovenian mountaineer Thomas Humar when he was solo expediting the Nanga Parbat mountain and got stuck in an avalanche.
The writer plotted the novel around Rakaposhi mountain, which gives the mesmerizing look of the Taj Mahal from Hunza, the district of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. So, she attributed the Rakaposhi mountain to the Taj Mahal of Karakoram.
Characters of the Novel
The central characters of the novel are Dr. Parishay Jahanzeb and Ufaq Hussain Arslan. Dr. Parishay Jahanzeb was a trained mountaineer who liked to climb mountains. Uffaq Araslan was a professional mountaineer from Turkey who was on a Pakistan visit to climb all the high mountain ranges of Karakoram. Another important character of the novel is Saif who is the fiance and cousin of Dr Parishay.

The theme of this novel is unique to the traditional novels of Nemrah Ahmed. It is basically a travelogue of Rakaposhi mountain. This novel by Nimra Ahmed encompasses various themes such as adventure, thrill, love, relationship, and friendship.
Summary of Karakoram Ka Taj Mahal Novel
It is the love story of two passionate mountain climbers, Parishay and Ufaq. Their first interaction occurs in Murree. Parishay was already engaged with Saif whom she didn’t love. So, she was impressed by Ufaq as the prince of his dream. The story has many thrillers as one of Parishay’s friends died during the expedition and Ufaq got stranded in his expedition of Rakaposhi.
